Far, Far Away

Have you been to Alaska yet? There is so much unique beauty there. Especially in all the areas to visit where you feel like you’re miles and miles away from civilization.

Don’t get me wrong, I love meeting new people and sharing stories, experiences, and recommendations. But there’s a point in life where instead of finding happiness from experiences, you need to turn around and find it within. Being far, far away from civilization, family, friends, a lot of humans makes it easy to get to know yourself and find what makes you heart beat. It was during this trip, and more specifically during my visit to the Misty Fjords, that I realized nature plays a large part in my happiness.

I was lucky enough to explore some jaw-dropping areas in Alaska. But, by far, my favorite moment from that trip was flying around the Misty Fjords in a floatplane. I went with a close friend, the pilot, and two others. Us 5, in a small floatplane, exploring almost 10,000 km of wilderness land.

After flying for about one hour, the pilot started lowering the plane. With the sound of the engine coming through the open plane doors, it was too loud in the plane to ask the pilot where we were going, but where we went was not a disappointment. Although floatplanes are small and a bit scary, they definitely have their perks. Like the ability to float anywhere, anytime, with anyone. And that’s just what we did. The pilot landed the plane somewhere in the middle of rocks, trees, and water and we floated. We stepped out onto the float of the plane, and took in the breathtaking views. The views that were unlike any other. The views that may have been seen by our eyes only. As we were looking around, we were all speechless. Not one word came out of our mouths for at least 15 minutes. In that moment, I think we all felt such inner peace and happiness, even though we didn’t share what we were seeing or feeling, we all knew.
